For a smooth transition on and off the bike, the TX224 is the ultimate triathlon shoe, lightweight, breathable, quick-drying, and designed for fast transitions. The TX224 has taken a new approach to triathlon shoe functionality by not sacrificing comfort and adjustability for quick entry/exit. Our unique design allows for superior fit and familiarity with a closure system that runners will appreciate. The new quick-lacing system is fast and easy to fasten, wrapping the extended mesh upper around the foot and maximizing airflow to keep your feet cool and ahead of the game.
Our Lake carbon fibre outsoles, combined with the secure toe box, provide a comfortable and secure fit, maximizing stability, power transfer, and performance. With a sleek yet substantial rubber bumper, the front of the shoe is also protected for the long term. The TX224 is the perfect combination of technically advanced upper materials, a secure closure system, and an ultra-lightweight, stiff carbon sole.
Fit
The TX224 is the industry’s first to offer the same model in 3 distinct shapes and widths of outsoles. We know how unique you are, and we wanted to ensure that no matter the shape of your foot, Lake has the solution for you as a triathlete. For low-volume feet, the Race Last is the right choice, for medium-sized feet the Competition Last, and for higher-volume feet or barefoot enthusiasts, the Comfort Plus Last is the perfect solution.
CX/TX RACE Last - (Narrow width) Featuring a slightly narrower toe box and a tighter heel, with a firmer grip than Lake's Competition Last, and less overall volume than our Sport Last. Designed for very high cadence pedalling, with a slimmer and sleeker performance fit.
CX/TX Competition Last - (Regular width) With a profile specifically designed for very high cadence pedalling and higher pressure, our Competition Last has a more curved profile than the Sport Last. Key differences include increased toe pitch and heel rise, a tighter heel, and a slightly wider circumference at the forefoot to allow the foot to expand under high pedalling pressures.
CX/TX Comfort Plus Last - (Wide width) The Comfort Plus Last has the most generous forefoot platform of all our CX/TX Lasts. This shape will accommodate a variety of foot shapes and allow for toe splay. Designed for cyclists who struggle to find a non-restrictive shoe for the shape of their feet.

Lining
The TX224 features a Clarino microfibre upper with a breathable and moisture-absorbing NuFoam™ shell and an antimicrobial Trek-Dry lining, along with a rubber elastic support mounted on the side of the heel to prepare the shoe for quick transitions. The unique NuFoam design works to keep your foot cool and dry.
The innermost layer of the NuFoam package is a Trek-Dry antibacterial and moisture-absorbing fabric made from carbonized bamboo. Trek-Dry moves moisture away from the foot to the shoe surface. The intermediate layer of the NuFoam package is a 2mm closed-cell perforated foam that acts as a spacer to allow air to circulate within the shoe, creating evaporation and maximizing comfort. This process works as a cooling system, with moisture evaporation helping to cool the foot while keeping it dry as you head towards the next transition.
Closure
Using a single hook-and-loop strap with quick laces, the TX224 features a quick lace system that is fast and easy to secure, neatly wrapping the foot in race mode with the added benefit of the Velcro strap. It provides the athlete with a micro-adjustable fit, as well as maximum impact protection and increased durability. It can be easily adjusted prior to the event, allowing the shoe to slide on easily and be secured quickly.
